Porsche sells MHP to Tata Consultancy Services in $1.5 billion AI deal
Porsche AG has reached an agreement to sell its wholly owned management and IT consulting subsidiary, MHP, to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for 320 million euros. The deal, which is subject to regulatory and antitrust approvals, is expected to close within the next few months. MHP, which employs approximately 4,500 people, will continue to operate under its own brand as an independent consulting firm.
As part of the transaction, Porsche and TCS have entered into a five-year strategic partnership valued at 1.25 billion euros. This collaboration focuses on digital solutions and artificial intelligence to enhance Porsche’s automotive expertise through TCS’s digital capabilities. The partnership includes the establishment of an AI Mobility Centre of Excellence to develop applications for production, development, and customer experience.
The sale is a component of Porsche’s ‘Sportwagenschmiede 35’ strategy, aimed at streamlining operations and increasing profitability by focusing on its core automotive business. While some analysts have questioned the long-term implications of outsourcing specialized digital expertise, the move is intended to provide Porsche with scalable AI-driven innovation and efficiency.
