Tata Electronics and Nexperia partner for semiconductor manufacturing in India

Tata Electronics and Nexperia have entered a partnership to advance semiconductor manufacturing in India. The collaboration covers wafer fabrication, assembly, and testing. Under the agreement, Nexperia MOSFETs will be produced at Tata Electronics’ 300mm semiconductor fab currently under construction in Dholera, Gujarat. Additionally, Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products will be assembled and tested at Tata Electronics’ packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The combined investment for these two projects is estimated at $14 billion, targeting sectors such as automotive, industrial, energy, and communications.

As India expands its semiconductor footprint, companies like Critical Manufacturing are focusing on the digital infrastructure required for these facilities. Critical Manufacturing is developing software to establish a digital manufacturing layer and manufacturing execution systems (MES) before physical production equipment arrives. This approach aims to integrate manufacturing data and controls early to prepare for future AI-assisted factory operations and improve production oversight.
