Tata Motors launches new Tiago Smart variant and affordable EV in India

Tata Motors has begun delivering the 2026 Tiago Smart base model across India, priced at Rs 4.69 lakh (ex‑showroom). The entry‑level hatchback features a revised black grille, new LED taillights, 14‑inch steel wheels and updated interior touches such as a coloured instrument cluster, six airbags and reverse‑parking sensors. Available with 1.2‑litre petrol or CNG engines, the Smart variant offers a five‑speed manual, with an optional AMT on higher trims.

Alongside the Smart variant, Tata introduced a Tiago electric‑vehicle version priced from Rs 6.99 lakh, positioning it as the country's most affordable EV. The EV is offered with 19.2 kWh (226 km claimed range) or 24 kWh (285 km claimed range) battery packs, a refreshed front fascia and a suite of safety features including six airbags, ABS + EBD, ISOFIX anchors and optional Advanced Driver‑Assistance systems. Both models retain the Tiago’s compact dimensions and family‑focused practicality, aiming to broaden Tata’s market share in the Indian entry‑level segment.
