Tata Motors reports significant Q2 FY27 sales growth driven by EVs
Tata Motors reported significant sales growth for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company’s passenger vehicle division sold over 201,723 units globally between July and September 2026, representing a 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
A major driver of this growth is the shift toward alternative fuels. Electric vehicle (EV) sales surged by 90 percent, reaching 47,150 units, while CNG vehicles accounted for 28 percent of total sales. Combined, EV and CNG models now make up 51 percent of the company’s total sales portfolio.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold 135,114 units in Q2 FY27, a 42.7 percent year-on-year increase. Growth was particularly strong in medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV), which saw a 34.1 percent increase in domestic sales. The company also noted strong momentum in September, with monthly vehicle dispatches exceeding 70,000 units for the first time.
