Tata Power Renewable Energy commissions 72.5 MW solar project

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 72.5 MW captive solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, developed for Tata Steel Limited. The project is designed to support Tata Steel’s decarbonization goals and is expected to generate approximately 166 million units of green energy annually, offsetting roughly 118,856 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

The facility utilizes 171,360 solar modules manufactured by TP Solar Limited. With this new commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.3 GW, of which 7 GW is currently operational. The company has an additional 5.3 GW of projects in various stages of implementation, expected to be commissioned over the next 6 to 24 months.
