Tata Power expands solar manufacturing and storage capacity

Overview

By late August 2026, TPREL commissioned a 190.5 MW solar and dispatchable renewable energy project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Developed under SJVN's Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Tranche-1, the facility includes a 115 MWh advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and utilizes technologies like Harmonic Filter Banks to support grid stability for clients including HPPC, MSEDCL, and NPCL.

Additionally, TPREL commissioned a 72.5 MW captive solar project in Bikaner for Tata Steel Limited. Utilizing 171,360 modules manufactured by TP Solar Limited, the project aims to offset approximately 118,856 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. With this commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 12.3 GW, with 7 GW currently operational and 5.3 GW in various stages of implementation.
