Tatra National Park sees trail repairs and costly new enclosure project
Contrasting developments are occurring within the Tatra National Park (TANAP) regarding infrastructure and maintenance.
In Tatranská Javorina, the TANAP administration is overseeing the construction of a massive enclosure costing over 400,000 EUR. The project, officially titled ‘Oplotenie katastrálneho územia Tatranská Javorina’, involves 625 meters of fencing supported by more than 250 steel posts, an electronic gate, and a multimedia panel. The contract was awarded to the Bratislava-based company Restau. Art.
Simultaneously, the hiking trail from Troj studničky to Kriváň has reopened to the public following a year-long renovation. Unlike the state-funded enclosure project, this trail restoration was completed through the voluntary efforts of the Hikemates hiking club, sponsors, and the public. The improvements include hundreds of wooden steps, railings, 180 meters of chains, and crampons to enhance safety and prevent erosion. Participants in the trail repair included members of the Hikemates club, the Slovak Armed Forces, and cadets from the General Milan Rastislav Štefánik Academy of Armed Forces.
