Tatvan launches underwater robotics training for youth
A specialized training program titled ‘MicroROV Pilot Training’ has launched in Tatvan, Bitlis, to provide youth with expertise in underwater technologies and robotic systems. Part of the project ‘My Future is Hidden in Lake Van: Underwater Technologies and Career Path for Youth Aged 14-18’, the initiative is organized by the Anadolu Underwater Research and Sports Association (ASAD) with support from the Ministry of Interior’s Directorate General of Relations with Civil Society.
Eighteen students, consisting of nine girls and nine boys, are participating in the program. Theoretical instruction is being led by Professor Dr. Salih Murat Egi at the Tatvan Seydi Ali Reis Maritime Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The curriculum covers the principles of MicroROV (Micro Remotely Operated Vehicle) systems, their maintenance, industrial diving, and underwater breathing systems.
The training aims to demonstrate how underwater robots can be utilized for scientific research, environmental monitoring, search and rescue operations, industrial applications, and the investigation of underwater cultural heritage.
