Tauck and American Cruise Lines announce riverboat fleet expansions

Tauck and American Cruise Lines have announced expansions to their respective riverboat fleets scheduled for the late 2020s.

Tauck will introduce the ms Harmonie to its French fleet in 2028. Designed for the Rhône river, the vessel will accommodate up to 130 passengers and features amenities such as a Sun Deck with a pool, a fitness center, and specialized suites. This addition is part of a broader fleet renewal program involving five new riverboats between 2026 and 2028, aimed at increasing the company’s total river cruising capacity by over 50%.

American Cruise Lines has named two new U.S.-built ships: the American Beauty, launching in 2028 for the Mississippi River, and the American Rhapsody, launching in 2029 for the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Both vessels will be built at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland and will accommodate 180 guests. The new ships will feature private balcony staterooms, including a 1,500-square-foot Signature Suite, and various onboard amenities such as top-deck lounges and fitness centers.
