Turkey law enforcement conducts widespread crime and drug operations
Various law enforcement operations and incidents have been reported across Turkey. In Istanbul's Fatih district, a Moroccan national identified as M. B. attacked a traffic police officer with a knife under the pretext of asking a question. After ignoring warnings to stop, the suspect was shot in the leg by police and subsequently detained; methamphetamine was found on his person.
In other regions, significant criminal activities were intercepted. In Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, police raided an auto repair shop used as a front for a synthetic drug laboratory, seizing 115.5 kilograms of AM-2201 raw material, which authorities estimate could have produced 11.5 tons of synthetic drugs. In Düzce, weekly reports indicated 184 incidents were addressed, resulting in the arrest of 17 wanted individuals and the seizure of various narcotics and weapons.
Other notable incidents include a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Silifke, Mersin, where a truck and van caught fire, and a car accident on the Izmir-Ankara highway that left three people injured. Additionally, organized crime investigations in Kocaeli led to the arrest of a fugitive attempting to flee to Greece, while security reports from Malatya showed a 130 percent increase in terrorism-related arrests during the first seven months of 2026.
