Tavanir lifts industrial electricity consumption limits during off-peak hours
Tavanir CEO Mohammad Elahdad has announced that industrial electricity consumption restrictions will be reduced during the month of Mehr. Specifically, industrial units are permitted to consume electricity beyond their contracted demand between 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM without incurring penalties.
This decision aims to utilize available grid capacity during off-peak hours and support increased industrial activity, even as power plants and network lines undergo scheduled periodic maintenance. By shifting activities to these hours, industries can leverage free network capacity to sustain and expand production.
Regarding long-term energy policy, Elahdad noted that under Article 4 of the Electricity Industry Development Obstacle Removal Law, industries are required to secure their own electricity or purchase it through energy exchange boards starting in 2026. Currently, only about 30 percent of this requirement has been met. Encouraging electricity procurement through the energy exchange is expected to create stable demand and stimulate investment in power plant development.
