Tavullia landfill fire affects 400 square meters

A fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, at the Ca' Asprete landfill in the municipality of Tavullia. The blaze affected an area of approximately 400 square meters in the Babbucce zone.

Firefighters from Pesaro responded to the alarm shortly after 2:00 PM with four vehicles. They managed to contain the flames within an hour, preventing the fire from spreading further through the facility. Following the containment, seven firefighting units remained on-site to conduct cleanup operations and check for residual hotspots.

Environmental officials from ARPAM were called to the scene to perform necessary assessments. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, reports suggest it may have been triggered by a lithium battery from improperly disposed of electronic waste (WEEE) mixed into unsorted refuse. The facility has reportedly resumed activities following inspections.
