Tawau police detain three foreigners for illegal entry attempt

Three foreign men, aged between 25 and 52, were detained in Tawau, Sabah, following a failed attempt to enter Malaysia through an undocumented route. The suspects were spotted acting suspiciously near a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) checkpoint at the old CIQS public jetty.

Tawau District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Rosdi Mat Jusoh, stated that the operation was conducted by the Task Force Unit of the Internal Security and Public Order Division following information from the public. While no illegal items were found during the search, the men were found to be without valid identification documents. Initial interviews suggest they attempted to enter the country via an unrecorded alternative route. The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
