Taxco, Guerrero marks 24th anniversary as Mexico’s Pueblo Mágico

Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism, led by Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that Taxco in the state of Guerrero is celebrating 24 years as a designated Pueblo Mágico. The celebration highlighted Taxco’s colonial architecture, its reputation as the World Silver Capital, and its rich culinary traditions including mole rosa, pozole verde, and regional barbacoa.

Tourism infrastructure was noted, with 59 hotels offering around 1,500 rooms, 542 lodging options listed on digital platforms, and 53 restaurants showcasing local cuisine. The city’s weekly Saturday silver market (tianguis) gathers more than 2,500 artisans, reinforcing its handcrafted silver legacy. Key landmarks such as the Santa Prisca church, Casa Borda, the Cristo Monumental, the Pozas Azules de Atzala and the underground river Chontalcoatlán were promoted as attractions for visitors.

The announcement encourages both national and international tourists to explore Taxco’s historic streets, cultural sites, and natural surroundings.
