Taxi services in Cádiz region to see tariff increases and fleet expansion

Authorities in the Cádiz region are implementing changes to taxi services to address rising costs and service demand. In Cádiz city, an extraordinary plenary session approved a moderate 6% average increase in taxi tariffs, scheduled to take effect in January 2027. This adjustment follows a decade without price revisions and aims to offset increased operational costs such as fuel, maintenance, and insurance. The minimum daytime fare is expected to rise by approximately 50 cents to 4.45 euros, while the minimum nighttime fare will increase by 0.35 euros to 6.20 euros.

In Chiclana, the local government is planning a significant expansion of the taxi fleet. The municipality aims to increase the number of taxi licenses from the current 52 to 81 by the year 2030 through a staggered rollout. The plan includes adding five licenses in 2026, followed by further increments in 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030. The consumer organization FACUA Cádiz has expressed support for the expansion to reinforce the service, though it cautioned that increasing the taxi fleet should not be the sole solution for the city's transportation needs.
