Italy fiscal updates: September deadlines and salary adjustments
September 2026 brings a dense schedule of fiscal deadlines and administrative updates in Italy. Key dates include September 15 for tax intermediary duties, September 16 for monthly VAT, withholdings, and social security contributions, and September 30 for the 730 pre-filled tax return and the second installment of the 'Rottamazione-quinquies'.
For school personnel (teachers and ATA staff), salary amounts visible on the NoiPA portal have raised concerns. The union Anief notes that net pay may appear lower due to the absorption of the Contractual Holiday Indemnity (IVC) following recent contract renewals, as well as potential IRPEF tax adjustments and changes in deductions.
Regarding debt collection, a reform implemented by Agenzia delle Entrate-Riscossione will change rules starting January 1, 2027. For debts up to 120,000 euros, taxpayers declaring temporary economic difficulty will be able to request up to 96 monthly installments (eight years) without needing to provide extensive financial documentation like ISEE or balance sheets.
Additionally, local issues have emerged, such as controversies in San Nicola La Strada regarding waste tax (TARI) notices being sent to deceased or former residents, highlighting potential database inaccuracies.
