Taylor Fresh Foods recalls jalapeño products amid Salmonella outbreak
Taylor Fresh Foods has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 20 prepared food products, including salsas, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sandwiches, due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall follows a warning from Coast Citrus Distributors regarding fresh jalapeños sourced from a producer in Sinaloa, Mexico.
The multistate Salmonella outbreak has reportedly sickened 345 people across 27 U.S. states, resulting in at least 36 hospitalizations. While the outbreak has been linked to restaurants like Chipotle and Qdoba, Taylor Fresh Foods reports it has not yet received specific reports of illness tied to its own recalled retail products.
The affected items were distributed to major retailers including Walmart, Kroger, Target, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop. Many of the recalled products carry 'Best If Used By' dates extending through August 16, 2026. Taylor Fresh Foods has ceased sourcing from the implicated Mexican producer and is utilizing alternative suppliers.
