Taylor Sheridan cancels ‘6666’ Yellowstone spin-off

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the ‘Yellowstone’ franchise, has officially confirmed that the long-rumored ‘6666’ spin-off will not be produced. Speaking on the ‘Rodeo Time’ podcast, Sheridan explained that he refuses to fictionalize the real-life Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, which he and his wife, Nicole Muirbrook, purchased for over $320 million in 2022.

Sheridan stated that he does not want to ‘trivialize and fictionalize’ a working ranch where real people live and raise their families. He expressed a deep sense of responsibility to protect the brand and the lives of the cowboys and staff employed there. While the character Jimmy Hurdstrom (played by Jefferson White) was sent to the ranch in ‘Yellowstone’ season four to set the stage for a potential series, Sheridan noted that the existing footage of the character’s journey serves as a complete narrative arc on its own.

Additionally, Sheridan discussed how the purchase of the historic ranch influenced his career, leading him to sign an exclusivity deal with Paramount to ensure he would continue working rather than retiring. While some fans have expressed frustration or accused him of hypocrisy regarding previous development announcements, Sheridan maintains that his decision is rooted in respect for the ranch’s heritage and its community.
