Taylor's launches lighter, lower‑carbon Port wine bottle
Taylor's, the historic Port wine producer, has introduced a new bottle that is about 24% lighter, weighing 440 g—roughly 140 g less than the previous version. The redesign is expected to save around 350 tonnes of glass and avoid about 210 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year based on the company's annual output of roughly 2.5 million bottles.
The lighter bottle was created over two years in collaboration with Portuguese partners Vidrala (glass production), Etiquele (labels), Amorim Cork Solutions (cork) and designed by the agency This Is Pacifica. The new packaging will be rolled out gradually across Taylor's international range, replacing existing stock while preserving the iconic silhouette and embossed crest that define the brand.
Adrian Bridge, Taylor's director‑general, said the change demonstrates that significant environmental improvement is possible without compromising the quality, elegance, or heritage of the three‑century‑old brand.
