Taylor's Port releases first Very Very Old White Port aged over 80 years

Taylor's Port has launched the Very, Very Old White Port (VVOP White), a limited‑edition expression crafted from White Port wines aged more than 80 years, with some components dating back to 1896. The wine is priced at €800 (US$913) and will be sold in extremely limited quantities through selected fine‑wine merchants worldwide.

Managing Director Adrian Bridge described the release as “more than a new Port wine,” emphasizing the centuries‑long heritage and the responsibility to preserve it for future generations. Master Blender David Guimaraens added that the blend honors the work of past generations and reflects the historic Douro Valley methods, such as foot‑treading grapes in granite lagares and transport by traditional rabelo boats.

The VVOP White displays amber‑gold colour with aromas of dried apricot, almond biscotti, candied orange peel, lavender and jasmine, and on the palate notes of roasted hazelnuts, honeycomb and saffron. To accentuate its rarity, Taylor's commissioned a bespoke crystal decanter in partnership with Portuguese glassmaker Vista Alegre.
