Tábor railway station begins major reconstruction project

The railway station in Tábor is undergoing a major reconstruction to improve passenger comfort and modernize facilities. The project, which has been in preparation for nearly five years, involves adding two new extensions to the existing 19th-century buildings. One extension will serve as the main entrance, while the other will provide a direct connection to the underpass, housing toilets and vending boxes in a barrier-free design.

In addition to a modern processing hall, the renovation includes a new elevator for the first platform, the renovation of historic cast-iron columns, and the installation of 20 bicycle stands. The historical sections of the station will be repurposed for carrier offices, railway administration, and residential apartments. The construction is expected to last 19 months and is funded by the European Investment Bank and the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.

Meanwhile, residents and local officials in Kutná Hora have expressed significant dissatisfaction regarding the city's infrastructure, specifically citing the neglected state of the railway station and critical parking shortages in both the historic center and residential areas.
