Tchibo reports on coffee consumption trends and new product release
A survey conducted by Tchibo in collaboration with NIQ/GfK reveals distinct coffee consumption patterns across Austria. The data shows that while nearly 90% of the Baby Boomer generation drinks coffee daily, less than half of Gen Z consumers do so. Baby Boomers primarily consume coffee at home (98.3%), whereas Gen Z leads in coffee-to-go consumption (94.2%) and uses coffee houses more frequently for social meetings (78.6%).
Regional differences in Austria are notable: Salzburg has the highest consumption at 2.9 cups per day, while Upper Austria has the highest percentage of heavy drinkers consuming more than three cups (28.7%). In Vienna, 30.4% of respondents consume coffee in coffee houses, the highest rate among federal states. Most respondents prefer classic coffee over flavored varieties like vanilla or caramel.
In the product sector, the German manufacturer Tchibo has released the Let’s Brew Elegant filter coffee machine. Priced at 59 euros, the device features a conservative stainless steel design and a 1.25-liter glass carafe capable of brewing between 500ml and 1.25L.
