Tea Košir to resign as State Secretary and depart Parliament

Tea Košir will officially step down from her position as State Secretary at the Ministry of Health on October 15, 2026. The Slovenian government was informed of her resignation following a proposal by Minister of Health Tadej Ostrc.

In a shift from her previous statements, Košir has decided not to return to her seat in the National Assembly as an independent MP, despite having previously indicated she might do so after leaving the Democrats party. She has formally submitted her resignation from her parliamentary mandate to the National Assembly.

Her departure from the party and her government role allows Elena Zavadlav Ušaj, the leader of the Democrats parliamentary group, to retain the parliamentary seat that Košir had previously vacated to take her government post. Reports suggest Košir may continue her professional path at the Ministry of Infrastructure.
