Teacher assaulted at kindergarten in Western Attica

A teacher was physically assaulted and injured at a kindergarten in Western Attica, Greece. The victim, a school headmistress, was transported to a hospital by ambulance following the attack. While the specific circumstances and the identity of the perpetrator(s) remain unclear, the Ministry of Education has been notified of the incident.

Dionysios Anastasopoulos, the Deputy Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education for Attica, condemned the attack in the strongest terms, describing it as an insult to both the educator and the institution of public schooling. Authorities have initiated an ex officio legal process to identify and hold those responsible accountable.

Officials highlighted existing legal protections under Law 5090/2024, which mandates a minimum of one year in prison for disrupting school operations through threats or insults, and at least two years in prison if the disruption involves physical violence. Support structures have been activated to provide psychological assistance to the school community.
