Teacher suspended following alleged sexual assault of student in Peru

A teacher at the Mariscal Castilla educational institution in Huancayo, Junin, has been preventively suspended following allegations of sexual assault against a 16-year-old student. The incident reportedly occurred on October 8 within the school premises.

The local education authority, UGEL Huancayo, has initiated an administrative process to determine responsibilities while the National Police and the Public Ministry conduct criminal investigations. The teacher, who taught Education for Work, allegedly took the student to a secluded area of the school.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Violence against Women in Huancayo plans to conduct an interview with the teenager using a Gesell chamber to gather testimony in a specialized environment. UGEL Huancayo director Walter Oré stated that the suspension aims to prevent any contact between the accused and students during the investigation.
