Dominican teachers launch national protests over school conditions
The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) has launched a national series of protests, including candlelit vigils, to demand improvements in the public education system. Teachers are calling for better school infrastructure, the completion of abandoned construction projects, and the fulfillment of the 4% GDP allocation for education.
Key economic demands include the payment of retroactive salary increases and performance evaluation incentives. The ADP has emphasized that these actions are being conducted outside of school hours to ensure that teaching activities are not interrupted. Local branches, such as those in Navarrete and Pueblo Viejo, are actively engaging with regional education authorities to seek solutions for these systemic issues.
