Team Ghana to debut in international motorsport at Angola event
Team Ghana is set to make its debut on the international motorsport stage at the Karting Africa Showrun in Benguela, Angola, scheduled for 10 and 11 October 2026. The three-driver team includes senior driver Jihad Armand, who trained at the WORR Motorsport academy in South Africa, alongside junior drivers Khloé Kusi-Asomah, 11, and Ezra Stephens, 9.
Led by Auto Racing Ghana (ARG) president Samuel Moses Opoku-Agyemang, the delegation recently met with National Sports Authority Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah in Accra. Ankrah expressed support for the team's preparations despite limited resources. The event is expected to host 39 drivers from across the continent and will feature officials from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
This participation marks Ghana's first appearance in continental motorsport. ARG is currently working toward developing FIA-standard tracks within Ghana to support driver development, road safety initiatives, and STEM education through its STEM Racing Ghana programme. Ghana is also scheduled to host the Karting Africa Showrun in 2027.
