Team Ninja releases Nioh 3 Hell Rising DLC for PS5 and PC

Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo America have released Hell Rising, the first major downloadable content (DLC) expansion for the action RPG Nioh 3. The expansion is available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam as of August 19, 2026.

Set during the Keian era, the narrative follows the protagonist, Takechiyo Tokugawa (now Shogun Iemitsu), into a version of Edo destabilized by the death of the future shogun. The story involves investigating mysteries surrounding Spirit Stones alongside historical and fictional figures, including the swordsman Yagyu Jubei and a Spanish diplomat named Rodrigo.

Gameplay features include a new open-field map representing a hellish wasteland affected by the Crucible, where players face yokai, human insurgents, and foreign alchemists. The expansion introduces new progression systems, offensive tools, and weapons such as Hoko and Shields. Access to this content requires players to have completed at least one full playthrough of the base game, targeting experienced players with endgame builds.
