Team Ron y Escudería Abro EC wins 12 Hours of Ecuador
Team Ron y Escudería Abro EC won the 12 Hours of Ecuador held at the Yahuarcocha International Autodrome on September 26. The winning team included Colombian drivers Gerónimo Gómez, Felipe Ceballos, and Ricardo Suarith, alongside Ecuadorian drivers Abigail Ron and Marcelo Ron.
This event marked the return of the endurance race after a 55-year hiatus since its 1971 edition. The winning team completed 393 laps, covering more than 1,450 kilometers in a Radical SR3 prototype.
The race saw a late shift in leadership. The Abro de Ecuador team had maintained a prolonged lead until 40 minutes before the finish, when a mechanical failure in the transmission and a broken chain on their Radical PR6 prototype allowed the Team Ron group to take the lead following a safety car period.
The Abro de Ecuador team finished in second place with 390 laps, while Quito-based pilot Patricio Avellán took third place in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with 370 laps.
