teamLab announces largest digital art museum for Tokyo
The digital art collective teamLab has announced plans to open its largest museum to date, tentatively named teamLab Tokyo, in the Ariake district of Tokyo. Scheduled to open in 2032, the facility will span approximately 33,000 square metres.
The new attraction is intended to feature digital art installations alongside a continuous expanse of open spaces containing greenery and a café. This expansion follows the success of existing locations such as teamLab Borderless in Azabudai and teamLab Planets in Toyosu, which recorded a combined 4.2 million visitors in 2025.
teamLab's installations, such as those at the current Planets location, utilize light, sound, sensors, and reflective surfaces to create multisensory environments where artworks react to the presence of visitors. The group, founded by Toshiyuki Inoko, maintains a global presence with permanent exhibitions in locations including Kyoto, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, and Macao.
