teamLab announces largest digital art museum in Tokyo
The Japanese digital art collective teamLab has announced the development of its largest museum to date, tentatively named teamLab Tokyo. Located in the Ariake district near Tokyo Bay, the new 33,000-square-meter facility will be significantly larger than the group’s existing locations, such as teamLab Borderless in Azabudai and teamLab Planets in Toyosu.
In addition to large-scale digital art installations, the new site is planned to include a plaza, greenery-filled open spaces, and a cafe. The project follows the success of teamLab Planets, an immersive museum in the Toyosu waterfront district where visitors walk barefoot through water and light installations. teamLab is recognized globally for blending art, science, and technology to create interactive environments using light, shadow, and color.
