Greece hosts Green Deal Greece 2026 conference on resilience
The Green Deal Greece 2026 conference, organized by the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), focused on national resilience, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Key discussions addressed the need for unified metropolitan planning in Attica to resolve traffic congestion, with regional governor Nikos Hardalias calling for a centralized coordinating mechanism.
In the energy sector, officials discussed the transition to renewable sources, emphasizing energy storage technologies like batteries and hydrogen to reduce reliance on natural gas. Greece has secured 1.46 billion euros from the Social Climate Fund to modernize transport fleets and support the transition to electric mobility through 2032.
Digital governance was a major theme, with reports indicating that the gov.gr platform saved citizens and businesses 6 billion euros in 2025. Future priorities include upgrading secure communications for security forces and utilizing artificial intelligence in public administration. Additionally, the government announced an increase in national investment resources to 23 billion euros for the 2026–2030 period, aiming for high absorption rates of EU funds.
