Latin music stars launch relief efforts for Colombia and Venezuela earthquake victims
Following a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia that has resulted in at least 181 deaths and hundreds of injuries, various musical artists and organizations have launched humanitarian initiatives to support victims in Colombia and Venezuela.
In Miami, a major benefit concert originally titled 'Unidos por Venezuela' has been renamed 'Unidos por los nuestros' to include relief efforts for Colombia. Scheduled for August 16 at the Kaseya Center, the event will feature over 30 Latin music stars, including Marc Anthony, Chayanne, and Feid. The funds will support organizations like CARE and World Central Kitchen to provide food, medical care, and housing reconstruction.
In Colombia, the band Morat announced they will donate a portion of their Bogotá concert proceeds to rebuild schools in the Chocó, Eje Cafetero, and Valle del Cauca regions, with funds channeled through UNICEF. Other local efforts include a solidarity concert by Renuevo on August 13 and a benefit event organized by the Medellín Mayor's Office on August 15. Additionally, the Bogotá Philharmonic will host a concert on August 15 to raise funds and collect essential supplies such as food and hygiene products for affected communities.
