Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G launches in India on July 17

Tecno confirmed that its Camon 50 Ultra 5G smartphone will launch in India on July 17 at 12 PM IST, with purchases available immediately through an Amazon India microsite. The device will be offered in three colours – Cypress Green, Misty Purple and Nebula Titanium – and carries the same high‑end specifications shown at MWC 2026, including a 6.78‑inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, up to 12 GB RAM, up to 512 GB storage, a 6,500 mAh battery with 45 W fast charging, IP68/69 water‑dust resistance, MIL‑STD‑810 durability, NFC and dual‑band Wi‑Fi.

The phone’s camera module features a 50 MP Sony LYT‑700C main sensor, a 50 MP telephoto lens with 3× optical zoom and AI‑assisted digital zoom, and an 8 MP ultra‑wide lens. It earned a DxOMark overall score of 146 – the highest recorded for any sub‑$600 smartphone and higher than the iPhone 15 – highlighting Tecno’s Universal Tone technology aimed at accurate skin‑tone rendering. The launch supports Transsion Holdings’ push to grow its share of the Indian market, which rose from 6.3 % in 2022 to 8.6 % in 2023 and sits around 5.7 % in 2024, placing the group eighth among smartphone vendors.
