Finnish duo Suninen, Haapala win 82nd Rally Poland as Matulka/Dymurski take runner‑up
Finland's Teemu Suninen and navigator Antti Haapala claimed victory in the 82nd Rally Poland, finishing 9.7 seconds ahead of the Polish crew of Jakub Matulka and Daniel Dymurski, who secured second place overall and won the KIQ RSMP classification. Suninen recorded six special‑stage wins, the most of any crew, and the pair also led the FIA European Rally Championship standings after the event.
Matulka/Dymurski’s strong performance earned them a podium finish in the ERC and a decisive win in the national KIQ RSMP points race. Polish veteran Kajetan Kajetanowicz and co‑driver Maciej Szczepaniak completed the top five, while a firefighter crew – Marcin Górny and Mateusz Martynek – earned a second‑place finish in class 3, sixth in ERC 3 and ninth overall in the general classification.
The rally was marred by several serious incidents. A crash involving Piotr Piesko and Mateusz Kacprzak on special stage 11 caused their car to overturn and catch fire; both drivers were hospitalized in stable condition. Earlier accidents by Marcel Neulinger and Dominik Stříteský forced the cancellation of the Jastrzębie‑Zdrój and Ochaby stages. These incidents led to the suspension of stage 11 and heightened safety concerns throughout the weekend.
