Turkey traffic accidents claim several lives and injure dozens
A series of road accidents across Turkey in recent days have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. In Kastamonu’s İnebolu district, a car slipped off a cliff in dense fog, killing driver Emirhan Şahin and injuring three passengers. A separate collision on the Ankara‑Kırşehir highway near Karakeçili left three dead, including a 10‑year‑old girl, and six injured after two Fiat cars crashed head‑on.
On the Aksaray‑Nevşehir road, a rain‑slicked highway caused a tour bus to lose control, striking a guardrail and leaving sixteen passengers with minor injuries. In Giresun’s Espiye district, a vehicle overturned into a stream, killing a married couple and injuring a third person. A multi‑vehicle collision near Sakarya’s Batakköy junction involved a car, a truck and a minibus, producing four severe injuries and two additional hurt persons.
In Antalya’s Kepez district, 16‑year‑old Muhammed Durmaz died after a motorcycle he was riding with a relative lost control and struck a road barrier on his birthday. Additionally, police officer Aydın Üyenarık, critically injured in a traffic accident in Istanbul’s Tuzla district in November 2025, was declared a martyr after a seven‑month battle with his injuries. The incidents prompted emergency response teams, including police, fire, medical and AFAD units, to attend each scene.
