Teen in Quang Ninh fined, electric scooter seized after unsafe riding

On 14 June, police in Cẩm Phả district, Quảng Ninh province, Vietnam, acted on a Facebook video showing a 14‑year‑old boy riding a YADEA electric scooter without a licence plate, on a single wheel and without a helmet. The rider also lacked a left‑hand rear‑view mirror, compulsory insurance and vehicle registration. After locating the teenager, authorities confiscated the scooter and issued an administrative fine. The rider’s father was also fined for providing the vehicle to an under‑age driver and for allowing an unregistered vehicle on public roads. The incident highlighted enforcement of the country’s traffic safety laws.
