Teenager sentenced for sexual exploitation of a minor in Sweden
A teenager has been convicted of two counts of sexual exploitation of a child in Kalmar District Court after having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old. The incidents occurred in Gothenburg during April and May 2025. While the defendant admitted to the sexual acts, he denied criminal intent, citing the close age difference between himself and the victim.
The court ruled that sexual acts with children under the age of 15 are inherently criminal. The defendant was sentenced to 110 hours of community service.
Simultaneously, the teenager was acquitted of two separate rape charges involving incidents in Kalmar County during the winter and spring of 2024–2025. Although the court found the victim's testimony regarding feeling pressured to be credible, it determined there was insufficient supporting evidence to prove the acts were committed against the victim's will. Therefore, the rape charges were dismissed.
