Tehran City Council approves new electric vehicle charging tariffs
The Tehran City Council has approved new electric vehicle (EV) charging service tariffs for the year 1405 (Persian calendar), representing a 42 percent increase compared to the previous year. Under the new regulations, users will be charged for station operation services in addition to the cost of electricity consumed.
The approved rates for charging services are 12,540 Rials per kilowatt-hour for fast DC charging and 8,078 Rials per kilowatt-hour for standard AC charging. To support public transit, electric buses operated by the unified bus company will receive free charging services.
Special provisions have been made for electric taxis, where high-mileage drivers will be eligible for a 50 percent discount on service fees. Seyyed Jafar Tashakkori Hashemi, head of the council's program and budget commission, emphasized that the municipality is mandated to delegate the management and operation of all charging stations to the private sector to improve service delivery and infrastructure expansion.
