Tehran fuel stations implement new emergency card system
A new emergency fuel card system has been launched at 54 selected gas stations in Tehran to modernize the fuel distribution network. The initiative, led by the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, aims to facilitate the refueling process, reduce waiting lines, and optimize fuel consumption management.
Under the new procedure, customers use their personal bank cards via a POS terminal to authenticate their identity. After selecting the desired fuel volume and entering their bank PIN, a four-digit code is generated. This code is then used with the station's emergency fuel card to complete the transaction.
Despite the goal of increasing speed and reducing the role of station attendants, some citizens have reported challenges. Reports indicate that the new process has, in some instances, become time-consuming, leading to increased wait times and the formation of queues, which contradicts the project's original objectives. Spokespersons for the fuel station owners' association have not yet provided comments regarding these implementation difficulties.
