Iran security forces arrest 12 citizens in Pakdasht and Malekshahi
Iranian intelligence services, including the IRGC and Ministry of Intelligence, have arrested at least 12 citizens in the Pakdasht and Malekshahi districts.
In Pakdasht, a prosecutor reported the arrest of one individual accused of photographing military sites and transmitting images to foreign media.
In Malekshahi, 11 individuals were detained by the Ilam provincial intelligence office. Authorities claim the detainees were organized into three separate teams and are accused of involvement in the January 2026 protests. Specific allegations include shooting at security forces and police headquarters, leading protests, and destroying public and government property. Officials stated that various firearms and cold weapons were seized during the operation.
Human rights organizations have raised concerns regarding these arrests, noting the lack of transparency regarding the identities of the detainees and their legal status. Amnesty International has previously documented widespread arrests and executions related to the January protests, citing concerns over forced confessions and the denial of legal counsel.
