Tehran police arrest real estate fraudster using fake online ads
Tehran police have arrested an individual for conducting real estate fraud by posing as a property consultant on social media and online platforms. The suspect used fake advertisements for houses for sale or rent, claiming to offer properties at prices significantly lower than market rates.
According to Colonel Reza Hatami, commander of the Tehran Metropolitan Police's 6th Station, the suspect would send photos and details of properties to interested parties and request down payments to secure the listings. The fraudulent amounts ranged from 10 million to 50 million Tomans.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had prior experience in the real estate sector and used specialized property databases to obtain legitimate photos and information to deceive victims. Approximately 40 complainants have been identified and referred to judicial authorities.
