Tehran police arrest serial online fraudster

Tehran police have arrested a serial fraudster who used online marketplaces to scam citizens by posting fake advertisements for household appliances at enticingly low prices. After receiving payments from unsuspecting buyers, the suspect would fail to deliver the goods and switch off his mobile phone.

Colonel Mehdi Memarpour, commander of the Tehran Metropolitan Police Station 1, stated that the suspect used false addresses to evade tracking. Following intelligence operations and specialized inquiries through online platforms, detectives identified the suspect's real identity and location in Tehran, where he was subsequently apprehended.

Investigations revealed that the suspect's criminal activities extended beyond Tehran. He was also wanted for similar fraud cases in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Kerman, and Zanjan, where he faced multiple arrest warrants. The suspect has confessed to the crimes during interrogation.
