Tehran ride-hailing drivers face rising costs and fare instability
Ride-hailing drivers in Tehran are facing significant economic challenges due to rising living costs, increased vehicle maintenance expenses, and fluctuating fare structures. Drivers report that the cost of essential services, such as oil changes, has doubled compared to the previous year.
Monthly maintenance costs for high-mileage vehicles are estimated between 15 and 25 million tomans, a figure that can spike unexpectedly due to repairs for belts, air conditioning, or radiators. Additionally, the lack of a stable pricing framework for trips creates uncertainty for both drivers and passengers, as fares for the same routes can fluctuate unpredictably.
