Tehran Stock Exchange falls below 8 million mark amid selling pressure
The Tehran Stock Exchange experienced a significant downturn during Tuesday's trading session, with the main index dropping by over 142,000 units to fall below the 8 million threshold. This decline was accompanied by a decrease in the equal-weighted index and a widespread sell-off, with approximately 72% of market symbols trading in negative territory.
Market analysts suggest that while fundamental indicators for many companies remain stable following the release of summer performance reports, geopolitical tensions and news regarding potential military conflicts have become the primary drivers of market volatility. This shift has caused trading behavior to follow geopolitical developments rather than technical or fundamental analysis.
In the domestic currency and gold markets, the US dollar and Euro saw price decreases, while Bitcoin and Tether experienced gains. Despite a rise in global gold and silver prices, domestic gold and coin prices in Iran declined, reflecting the influence of local exchange rates and supply-demand dynamics.
