Tehran Stock Exchange faces significant decline amid heavy selling pressure
The Tehran Stock Exchange has experienced a significant downturn, marked by intense selling pressure and a decline in market indices. On one trading day, the number of sell orders surged from 43 to over 500, with approximately 16 trillion tomans remaining in sell queues. Retail investor capital saw a notable outflow, with 6.1 trillion tomans exiting the market during a period where total transaction value fell by 32% compared to previous sessions.
Following this trend, the main index continued its decline, dropping by 157,228 units to settle at the 7.2 million level. This marked a second consecutive day of losses. The equal-weighted index also fell by over 40,000 units, reaching 1,946,000, indicating that the selling pressure was widespread across various stocks rather than being limited to large-cap companies. Key influential symbols included Faml, Shepna, Shabandar, and Foolad.
The Iran Fara Bourse also faced downward movement, with its total index dropping by 939 units to 56,627. Influential symbols in the Fara Bourse included Kgehr, Marun, and Saman.
