Tehran Stock Exchange index surpasses 6 million unit milestone
The Tehran Stock Exchange has reached a historic milestone as its total index surpassed the 6 million unit mark. During early trading on Saturday, August 22, the index rose by approximately 103,000 units, or 1.74 percent, to reach a level of 6,000,056 units.
This upward trend is supported by significant liquidity inflows, with approximately 4,805 billion tomans of real money entering the market over the previous week. Demand has been particularly strong in sectors including steel, refining, pharmaceuticals, food, and banking.
In the physical commodity market, the Iran Mercantile Exchange reported that approximately 3,668,000 tons of various products were traded in the week ending August 21, with a total value of 122,200 billion tomans. Mobarakeh Steel Company led the physical market, trading 161,740 tons of steel sheet valued at 16,500 billion tomans. Other major contributors included National Iranian Copper Industries Co and Bandar Abbas Oil Refining.
