Tejashwi Yadav accuses Bihar government of fiscal crisis and lawlessness

Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has leveled serious allegations against the NDA government regarding both the state's financial stability and its law and order situation.

On the economic front, Yadav claims Bihar is facing a severe fiscal crisis characterized by a massive increase in public debt. He stated that the state's fiscal deficit for the 2025-26 financial year reached 5.8 percent of the GSDP, the highest among major Indian states. Yadav argued that the government lacks a long-term plan for debt and revenue management, leading to difficulties in paying government employees, pensioners, and contractors, as well as cuts to student scholarships and credit cards.

Regarding law and order, Yadav accused the administration of attempting to turn Bihar into a ‘police state’. He highlighted the case of 19-year-old Roshan Yadav, who was found dead in Madhubani jail. While authorities claim it was a suicide, Yadav alleged the youth was murdered following police torture and electric shocks. He vowed to fight for justice for victims of crime and against police misconduct.
