Tejashwi Yadav backs Bihar student protests over paper leaks
Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has extended formal support to ongoing student protests in Patna. The demonstrations, involving groups such as the Bihar PhD Scholars Association and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), have been active for 19 days. Protesters are demanding an end to examination paper leaks, more transparent testing processes, timely examinations, and increased employment opportunities.
Yadav visited protest sites, including a hunger strike at Gardanibagh, to voice support for BPSC TRE-4 aspirants. He criticized the state government and the Education Minister, alleging that the education system has been ruined and that the government has failed to engage in meaningful dialogue with students. Additionally, he claimed that financial assistance for youth under the ‘Saat Nischay’ scheme has been reduced, increasing the burden on families.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has pledged to support a scheduled protest on August 25 and stated they would continue to fight for student rights through street demonstrations if necessary.
