Turkish Black Sea Coast Beaches Closed as Strong Winds Prompt Bans
Strong winds, high waves and rip‑current risks forced local authorities to prohibit sea entry on the Black Sea coast of north‑western Turkey. The Meteorology General Directorate warned of gale‑force breezes, and governorates issued temporary bans for July 31–August 1 2026 (and up to August 2 in some areas).
In Tekirdağ Province, the districts of Süleymanpaşa, Şarköy, Marmaraereğlisi (Sultanköy) and Saray were closed to swimmers. Kırklareli’s Vize and Demirköy districts also saw a one‑day ban. In the neighboring provinces, Sakarya’s Karasu, Kocaali and Kaynarca, as well as Kocaeli’s Kandıra (except a few designated beaches), were placed under similar restrictions. Coast‑guard, police and lifeguard teams increased patrols and displayed red flags to enforce the bans and protect the public.
